Collective Worship for Advent

The slides in this presentation show the scripture readings and prayers
used in the National Youth Sunday Reclaim the Future! Resource,
Collective Worship (Part 2) for use during Advent 2008.
These reflections for the Season of Advent help us to prepare for the coming of
Jesus by reflecting upon the gifts that God brings to us. Each day begins with the
phrase ‘We are waiting for the God of…’ followed by such qualities as peace, light,
hope and so on. You’ll find a short passage of Scripture, a reflection, and then
some things to think about and ideas of what to pray for each day.
These latter
two sections can work well in registration or form time, leading into a sharing of
ideas and thoughts and the opportunity for some private prayer or a spontaneous
sharing of intercession.
Each day concludes with a prayer that can be said
collectively.
The themes are varied. They have an Advent flavour, but they also fit in broadly
with the key livesimply message: God calls us to live simply, sustainably and in solidarity
with the poor.
